- I have an intermintent problem with my 1581 drive. It is still my most
- reliable drive, but the problem seems to be getting worse. Sometimes
- when I change diskettes I get the directory from the old diskette.
- Initializing the drive, I0:, or getting a new directory do not always
- help. I just have to turn the drive off and back on to use another
- diskette. The problem may be more likely to occure after the drive
- has been on for a while. I think Desterm buffers the user directory
- inside the computer and it is more likely to overwrite the new disk
- directory with the directory from the old diskette, creating a real
- mess. My 1581 has the good controler and is equipped with JiffyDOS,
- although I usually use it in 128 mode without JiffyDOS.
-
- Is this a common problem, and is there a cheap or simple fix?
